BioModules
Plug-and-Play Biometrics for Embedded Systems.
BioModules are STM32-based microcontrollers with id3's biometric algorithms pre-loaded — fingerprint and face recognition, ready to embed. A simple serial TTL or USB protocol gives any host system immediate biometric capability without biometric expertise.

Key Features
Everything needed for biometric integration — algorithms, hardware, and protocol — in a single OEM component.
Embedded Biometric API
Built-in matcher and template extractor ready to use out of the box. No algorithm development required — enroll and verify with a single command.
Simple Integration Protocol
Serial TTL or USB interface with a straightforward command set. Any host MCU or SBC can communicate with the BioModule in minutes using existing UART libraries.
Sensor Flexibility
Multiple hardware variants available for different fingerprint sensor vendors and camera technologies. Choose the sensor best suited to your application and form factor.
Power Efficiency
Optimized for low-power applications including battery-operated and portable equipment. Lightweight AI models deliver fast inference with minimal current draw.
Standards Compliance
Meets international standards for biometric data interchange. Templates are interoperable with id3's full SDK suite — scale from module to server without re-enrollment.
Lightweight AI
Optimized AI models designed for reduced library size and rapid processing on constrained hardware — same id3 accuracy in a fraction of the memory footprint.
Two ways to integrate id3 biometrics
Whether you design your own PCB or want a ready-to-wire module, id3 provides the right level of integration for your project — from pre-programmed chips for custom hardware to standalone BioModules ready to embed.
Pre-programmed STM32 chips
id3 ships the MCU with the biometric firmware already flashed and locked. You design your own PCB, layout and enclosure — we deliver the silicon ready to solder. Other MCU families available on demand if your design has specific constraints.
- Best for high-volume production
- Full freedom on form factor and BOM
- Custom MCU possible if you have specific needs
- Firmware updates and provisioning service available
Standalone BioModules
Complete OEM modules with the MCU, sensor (fingerprint or camera) and serial / USB interface — wired up, tested and ready to plug into your host system. Skip the hardware design phase entirely and start integrating biometrics in minutes.
- Fastest path to working biometrics
- UART TTL or USB out of the box
- Multiple sensor variants in catalog
- Suited for prototypes and low-to-mid volume
Not sure which path fits your project? Our embedded team helps you choose — share your volume target, sensor preference and enclosure constraints, and we'll quote both options.

id3 × STMicroelectronics
Every BioModule is built on a member of the STM32 family — from the cost-optimised STM32H7 to the AI-accelerated STM32N6. id3 Technologies is a member of the ST Partner Program, which means our biometric stack is validated, jointly engineered with ST's edge-AI teams and integrated into the STM32 ecosystem tools.
Validated STM32 portfolio
Algorithms benchmarked and tuned on STM32H7, STM32MP, STM32N6 and i.MX 8M Plus — pick the MCU your BOM can afford, the API stays the same.
Joint engineering with ST
Direct collaboration with the ST edge-AI team gives id3 early access to silicon, reference boards and AI tooling — your project benefits from this head start.
STM32Cube ecosystem
BioModules ship as STM32Cube-compatible packages and are validated through the ST Edge AI Suite — drop in with STM32CubeMX, X-CUBE-AI and STM32CubeIDE.

Where id3 BioModules go to work
From a door handle to a hospital corridor, the same biometric engine adapts to the constraints of each vertical — battery-powered, network-isolated, certified, scalable.
Residential & vacation rental access
Smart locks, building entry, short-term rental keyless access. Fingerprint or face unlock with offline operation when Wi-Fi drops.
Time & attendance
Clocking terminals in offices, factories and warehouses. Replace badges with a fingerprint or face check — no card lost, no card shared.
ATM & banking kiosks
Biometric authentication at self-service banking terminals, currency exchange points and microfinance kiosks. Reduces card skimming and PIN fraud.
Commercial access control
Server room doors, data center entries, hazardous-material lockers, executive floors. High-security access with detailed audit trail.
Vending & retail kiosks
Age verification, loyalty checkout, employee-only vending. Quick biometric step that doesn't require the user to touch a keypad.
Healthcare & critical environments
Staff identification at hospital pharmacies, medication carts, secure ward access. Hands-free face recognition where gloves prevent badge use.
