NIST MINEX Certified Algorithms

id3 Technologies' fingerprint template generation and matching algorithms are evaluated by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) program — NIST's reference test for INCITS 378 fingerprint templates.

MINEX certifies that our minutiae templates interoperate across compliant systems and meet the requirements of the U.S. Government's Personal Identity Verification program.

  • Standardized minutiae templates — INCITS 378 & ISO/IEC 19794-2
  • Cross-vendor template interoperability verified by NIST
  • Eligible for U.S. Government PIV / FIPS 201 deployments

Application Domains

Fingerprint recognition powers identity workflows across government, enterprise, law enforcement and consumer applications.

Access Control

Secure entry to buildings, server rooms and restricted areas — no card, no PIN, just a fingerprint.

Civil Identification

National ID programs, voter registration and e-passport enrollment leveraging the uniqueness of fingerprint ridge patterns.

Law Enforcement

AFIS integration, latent print comparison and suspect identification for criminal investigation databases.

Mobile Authentication

On-device fingerprint verification for app login, payment confirmation and secure document access — no server round-trip.

Smart Card & eID

Match-on-Card technology stores and matches the fingerprint template directly on the credential — biometric data never leaves the card.

Healthcare

Patient identification at point of care, staff authentication and secure access to electronic health records.

Why id3 Technologies

Sub-Millisecond Matching

Template comparison in under 1 ms, enabling real-time 1:N identification across large databases without GPU acceleration.

Any Platform

From cloud servers to bare-metal MCUs and Java Card smart cards — one algorithm family, consistent accuracy across all deployments.

Data Sovereignty

Deploy fully on-premise or air-gapped. With Match-on-Card, biometric data never leaves the physical credential — GDPR-compliant by architecture.

35+ Years in Biometrics

Founded in 1990, id3 has shipped biometric technology to governments, banks, and system integrators in 20+ countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about id3's fingerprint recognition technology.

01 How accurate is fingerprint recognition?

id3's fingerprint algorithms achieve a false match rate below 0.01% with matching times under 1 millisecond, as validated in the NIST MINEX III evaluation.

02 What fingerprint standards are supported?

The Finger SDK supports ISO/IEC 19794-2, ANSI/INCITS 378, and WSQ image compression — ensuring interoperability with AFIS systems, government databases and third-party sensors.

03 Does it work on embedded devices?

Yes. The MicroFinger SDK runs on microcontrollers with as little as 256 KB of RAM. The BioModules hardware provides a plug-and-play fingerprint solution with UART/USB interface.

04 Is fingerprint data stored on a central server?

Not necessarily. With Match-on-Card, the template is stored and matched on the smart card itself — no server, no database. For server deployments, only the compact template is stored, never raw fingerprint images.

05 What sensors are compatible?

The Finger SDK is sensor-agnostic and supports optical, capacitive and ultrasonic sensors from leading manufacturers. Raw image input (BMP, WSQ, PNG) is accepted for offline processing.

06 What regulations does id3 comply with?

id3 Technologies' products are designed with GDPR, ISO/IEC 19794-2 (fingerprint data format), NIST NFIQ2 quality standards, and FBI CJIS compliance requirements in mind.
