Enrollment Pipeline
ID Token guides the user through a fully automated, document-anchored identity enrollment — from document scan to cryptographic token issuance — in under a minute.
The entire enrollment runs on-device — no biometric data is transmitted to a server. The resulting token is a PKI-signed QR code that can be verified offline by any compliant reader.
How It Works
Each step of the enrollment leverages a dedicated id3 technology — ensuring the highest level of identity assurance at every stage.
MRZ Reading
The app's camera reads the Machine Readable Zone at the bottom of the identity document — extracting name, date of birth, document number, nationality, and expiry date using id3's Document SDK OCR engine.
NFC Chip Reading
Using the MRZ data as access key, the app reads the NFC chip embedded in the document — extracting the ICAO-compliant biometric photo, the digital signature, and the issuing authority certificate chain for authenticity verification.
Liveness Detection
Before capturing the selfie, a passive liveness check ensures the person in front of the camera is a real, present individual — detecting printed photos, video replays, and 3D masks without requiring any user action.
Facial Matching
The live selfie is compared against the biometric photo extracted from the NFC chip — confirming that the person presenting the document is its legitimate owner. id3's NIST FRTE top-ranked algorithm performs this match entirely on-device.
Token Issuance
Once all checks pass, ID Token generates a Visible Digital Seal (CEV) — a cryptographically signed QR code (ISO 22376, PKI) embedding the verified identity data. This token is stored in the app and can be presented to any third-party service for instant, offline-verifiable authentication.
